your neighbors, and most of us at one point in our lives experienced food insecurity, housing instability, a crushing medical condition or life altering event creating uncertainty AND that is why we know a little help, a little care, MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.

Our story
Founded in 2012, the Garage of Blessings is a 501(c)(3) fully operated volunteer organization, providing NO COST tangible goods and basic human care to our neighbors of Island and Skagit counties.
Why
Many of us feel blessed to call beautiful Whidbey Island home, but for some the barriers to sustaining a household here is more than they can manage alone, like high costs of living, lack of affordable housing, limited employment opportunities, medical challenges, uncertainty in federal assistance programs and at times, limited community resources, particularly with the growing need. These challenges affect more in our community than most realize, and for some, asking for help takes courage.​

While these are multifaceted issues with no clear single cause or solution, as an active stakeholder in this community, the Garage of Blessings works to create thriving communities through innovative ideas, collaboration, and cooperative action. Every person who walks through our door needs something different. It may be a tangible item like clothing, help with food for the week, referral services or just to know that today, someone else was happy to see them. ​
